STATEMENT of intent
The theme of my project is surrealism I intend to capture different images to help me create a weird and wonderful final image. By looking at surrealist artists and photographers will help me gain a better idea of what weird and wonderful is.
I will start by looking at artist research and photographers who capture surreal in different ways, images from different perspective will help me when I begin my project to take photographs related to my theme.
To do this I will have to take photographs in different locations in order to collect different images to compare and show contrast. My initial ideas of surreal was images of the things you get in nightmares.
To show my progression through at the project I will start by taking photographs outside of school and in different areas I will be going to Angelesey and London as I feel this will show a big contrast of landscape.
For my initial research I am going to research three photographers, these are going to be Berenice A Abbott because I like the way she frame her shots and how they are in black and white, Aaron Siskind why because of how she does close ups of buildings details.
my last and third person is Salvatore Dali the reason why I like his work is because of his surreal photos.

SALVADORE dali
This picture shows how the watch is melting, In my opinion the image looks like Salvador Dali is trying to show sadness and the feeling of lostness. I would think that he is trying to show maybe that he is frustrated and that this is what he thinks of when he thinks about anger or frustration. You can also see a moth in the corner that shows something that everyone hates. So I think Dali is trying to show he is lost.

analysis |
I would say it is a mid shot and that it is took so you do not look down or up in the air. Look straight at the picture and not at the hand.
The picture was taken at eye level. The level that you would look at the image would make you feel that you was really there as if there was a real koala present. The image has a neutral level of colours it is not just black and white, colours array. The effect of the colours makes the photo look alot more realistic. |

This picture is of two silhouettes where someone is lay on the floor and someone else standing above looking down so it looks like the head of the lying down silhouette. In my opinion this image shows that someone has been murdered and that nobody knows who it is, that's why the guy that is stud up next to him is covering his head to make everyone wonder how the person was killed and who killed him or her and who he is and why they would want to kill him. The picture is also cropped in close to show sadness and soreness it is also in black and white, Which sometimes helps with the sadness effect. Overall what i like about this picture is the fact that it's full of mystery and that you dont know who is killed or who the guy is standing over him and that he maybe the one thats killed him.

EVALUATION
what artists have you researched?
what have you learned from studying there work?
|
I have researched on SALVADOR DALI also I have researched Ben Hiene and Ben Zank.
I have learned that Dali makes ordinary thing weird like the clock he made it into the melting clock. Ben Heine gets some paper and draws over the paper and makes ordaney things seem weird.

what theme did you explore?
what were your first thoughts about the theme?
how did your ideas change about it as you developed your work?
|
we explored the theme weird and wonderful, by putting different objects together and manipulating them in photoshop to create a weird outcome.
I first thought that the theme would be on some thing that would be funny to look at, but it was more us taking picture of things out of there ordinary place. A good example of this is the series of images I took of fruit and changed them by adding filters
As I went along in my project I changed my ideas alot and refined my outcome by doing some studio shots of objects I could change in photoshop
